Hello blogosphere! I'm back from my (8 month) slumber. I know its been a hot min since I've posted anything, so here goes nothing. Let's see if I remember how to do this...
This past weekend I went to Cape May, NJ for a little weekend getaway. I had a lot of fun, even though it was still a little chilly. Here's a quick recap on this fun (and much needed) trip!
Sailor in Stripes
The first day was still a little rainy so I wanted to wear some cool blue tones to match. It was quite cloudy so I brought a sweater along just in case I got cold (yes I tied it around my neck and yes I know it's extra). It was also super windy so pls pardon my hair, it literally did whatever it wanted.

On the second day the sun decided to shine, so I broke out the sunnies! Ngl, the sunglasses made the look. I wanted to wear my warmer summer colors since it was so nice. It was still a little windy so I wore a sweater (yeah it's the same sweater, I just love it too much).

Ocean Side Food
Right by the beach, there was a cute little seafood place called Quincy's Original. They had the best shrimp and lobster roll I have ever tasted! Everything about them was so cute, from their menu to their plating. Absolutely adorable and nautical!
Hope you enjoyed the blog! Sorry for being MIA for so long, but I'm back (and hopefully for good)! Make sure you get to plan a weekend getaway at least once this summer.
Happy traveling! Happy vacationing! Fill your life with nice shoes, warm smiles & plenty of dreams With Love, Maria
America's favorite weekend just passed, and I really hope y'all enjoyed it! This year especially, I had a lot of fun. So much so, I decided to blog about it. That way I could share all my memories with you guys! Without further ado, here is my fourth of July recap!!
In the Kitchen
Food on the fourth is always important. It's no Independence Day without summer's staple fruit: watermelon! There was no way I could not have some this past weekend. I also tried something new this year. I made an American flag pie (stars & stripes, the whole works)! I have to admit, it came out a lot better than I thought it would. If you want the recipe, you can check it out here!
All-American Outfit
Shirt: Lands' End Shorts: Vineyard Vines Shoes: Sperry (similar) Watch: Juicy Couture
The 4th of July is the one day the whole country agrees on a dress code. Red, White, & Blue. This was the perfect outfit for the day! I decided to go with my fav button down with the tiny blue anchors, along with my trusty navy blue shorts. I love this classy New England look!
Patriotic Pick-Me-Ups
On the fourth, you can never be too patriotic!! Even my dog, Pierre, was feeling those 'Merica vibes. I had a USA flag bandanna from Michaels that I tied around his neck, and voila! He became an all-American pup. All of the items I bought were very cheap. I got the napkins from Walmart, the flask is from Marshalls, and the glitter & koozie are from Target. Easy way to keep it patriotic on a budget!!
Even though everyday is Independence Day, on July 4th you get to make memories that last a lifetime with the ones you love. I love this country of the free because of the brave! I hope you enjoyed reading this post!!
Happy July! Happy summer! Fill your life with nice shoes, warm smiles, & plenty of dreams With Love, Maria
The perfect Instagram season is finally here! Autumn always gets me excited, the foliage is beautiful and there are many things that only occur during this time of year. Since today is the first day of Fall, I thought I should share my list of must-haves this season. Without further ado, here are my "fall essentials".
1. Go-To Travel Mug
I don't know about you, but coffee is one of my favorite beverages and it's a great way to keep you warm during this colder weather. Having a travel mug is important so you can keep your drink and even your hands warm on your way to class. Even though coffee mugs aren't considered accessories, it really can make a personal statement. There are multiple types of mugs to choose from, and it can say a lot about you. I have also seen a lot of people on campus decorating their travel mugs with stickers, which is a great way to show your personality! My personal favorite has got to be the Lilly Pulitzer travel mugs. The patterns are all so cute, and really keep your beverage warm! (P.S. Yes! The header of my blog is a Lilly Pulitzer pattern.)
2. A Cute Scarf
Scarves are the number one accessory during this season. You can wear them so many ways, and sometimes they just "tie" the whole outfit together (see what I did there). You can use them as a statement piece and stay warm! There are a few kinds of scarves that I personally love:
3. Durable and Stylish Pair of Boots
Everybody has a pair of shoes that they wear all the time. This fall, make sure you have a pair of high quality boots because it does get cold fast (at least here at State College). Boots keep your feet warm and are very comfortable to walk in. Your boots should be well insulated and versatile for everyday use. My favorite pair of boots are from LL Bean, which is great because they have a life-time guarantee. They are made with "thinsulate" so it is perfect for the fall season. I think they are absolutely adorable and easy to match with every outfit.
You can buy me here:
*These take a long time to ship and may be on back-order*
4. Very Warm Pair of Socks
To go with your really cute boots, you of course have to have socks that go with it! Lately, a lot of girls have been wearing socks that come up to mid-calf with their Bean Boots and I think it looks absolutely adorable! They keep your feet extra warm, and they add an extra touch of color to your outfit. If you're wearing boots that come up higher than that, like riding boots you can always wear leg warmers to stay extra toasty.
5. Fall-Scented Hand Sanitizer
During any change of season people tend to get sick, especially if the temperature is getting cooler. Having hand sanitizer "handy" at all times is a great way to stay healthy. It kills two birds with one stone, you can stay away from germs and smell like fall! Some of my favorite scents include sweet cinnamon pumpkin, vanilla cream, and suncrisp apple.
6. A Sturdy Umbrella
Here at State College it rains A LOT, especially during the fall season. Having a durable umbrella is very important. You don't want to be that one kid completely drenched coming to class because you just walked in the pouring rain. Plus, getting stuck in the rain is an easy way to get sick. Believe it or not, an umbrella can say a lot about you. The pattern or colors you choose can reflect on your sense of style. Have fun with it and make sure you get an umbrella you really like, you'll be using it quite often! My favorite umbrella that I own is from Vineyard Vines, it is very sturdy and has the cutest patterns on it!
Thank you for reading my first "real" blog post! I hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful! Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if there's something in particular you want me to post. I hope to update my blog every Wednesday, I will link my posts on Facebook or Twitter each week as well. Happy first day of fall!! Stay warm!!
